Arms of Lord Edward Wotton

Arms of Lord Edward Wotton

Coat of arms prop made by the Globe Props team for the production of Raleigh: The Treason Trial, which was shown in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare's Globe in 2018. The production was a verbatim account of the 1603 trial of Sir Walter Raleigh.

The coat of arms is made of wood and has a raised frame and raised shield in the centre. It has been hand-painted and made to look aged by our scenic painters. We have 10 of these small panels and this one is the coat of arms of Lord Edward Wotton. Edward Wotton, 1st Baron Wotton (1548–1626) was an English diplomat and administrator. From 1612 to 1613, he served as a Lord of the Treasury.

The panel measures approximately 340 mm x 215 mm x 25 mm. It has a chip in the paint at the point of the shield

This original one-of-a-kind prop comes with a certificate of authenticity. Every original item is offered in a used state as it has been on stage in performance.
